Every being is entitled to a healthy start in life, and access to a healthy mother is every child’s best opportunity to reach their fullest potential.
But, if you’re a woman in a developing country, pregnancy can be one of the biggest threats to your life. In fact, the second most common cause of death for girls between the ages of 15-19 in these countries is complications from pregnancy and childbirth.
And despite spending more per capita on maternity care than any other country, the U.S. has a higher ratio of maternal deaths than at least 40 other countries.
Change for Women is proud to support safe and accessible pregnancy and childbirth for all women.
How we’re changing lives:
- Providing free maternal health services to medically-disenfranchised families in Southeast Asia through the Bumi Sehat Foundation
- Providing pre- and postnatal care and education for low-income, at-risk mothers in the U.S. (and throughout the world) through Every Mother Counts
